Looking for a study cafe in PJ?
Short answer: MeTime Book Cafe, Level 1, The Square, Jaya One, Section 13, Petaling Jaya. Open 11am to 8pm, every day.
It is not a cafe with a few extra plugs. It is a place built around sitting down and getting through the work.
What you are probably looking for
A table you can keep for the whole afternoon. Somewhere you will not feel the need to order again every hour just to justify the seat.
Quiet enough to read the same paragraph only once. Not the loud music, not the next table on a video call, not the queue forming behind your chair.
And not home, where the sofa, the fridge and the family are always two steps away. Not the campus library either, when it is full or you want a cup of tea next to your notes.
What is here
Three rooms with doors. Booked by the hour. Close the door, spread the notes across the table, set the lights and the air-con the way you like. Good for a long revision block, or two or three of you working through a group assignment out loud.
Bunkers. Smaller, tucked into a corner, for one person. When you do not need a whole room, just a corner that is yours for a few hours. Bring earphones for anything with sound.
An open area and the lawn. Tables near the shelves, for lighter work. Other people around you, everyone doing their own thing. Tea from the counter. A cat called Ichy wanders through now and then.
Shelves of books. For a break between chapters. Read them here, put them back when you are done.
Free Wi-Fi and drinking water. Bring the laptop and a charger.
Which space for which kind of study
- Exam revision, thesis, anything that needs real focus: a room or a Bunker.
- Group project: a room, so you can talk it through without worrying about the tables next to you.
- Reading, light notes, replying to emails: the open area is enough.
- Not sure yet: ask at the counter when you arrive.
A few things to know
- Keep it quiet. Soft voices are fine in the open area.
- Set your own timer. We do not come in to tell you the hour is up.
- Children 7 and above only, with a parent.
- It closes at 8pm. Start the long sessions in the afternoon.
What we do not do
We do not ask why you came, and we do not tell you how to use the time. You know what you need to get done.
